How to prepare for a commercial cleaning site survey
A short checklist that helps a survey run quickly and produces a quote that matches your building.
A site survey is the point where a cleaning proposal either becomes accurate or stays generic. A little preparation before the visit makes the difference.
Share the basics before the visit
Send the floor area, the number of washrooms and kitchens, and the hours the building can accept cleaning. If you have a floor plan, it helps the surveyor understand zones that need different treatment.
Have your access rules to hand
Ask building management for gate pass, work permit and insurance requirements before the survey. Access is the most common reason a first clean is delayed, and it is easy to resolve in advance.
Decide what “clean” means for your site
A corporate floor with client meetings needs a different finish from a back-office floor. Walk the surveyor through the areas that matter most and be specific about the standard you expect.
Agree who signs off the work
Name the person who will review the first clean. A single point of contact keeps feedback clear during the first few cycles.
Ask for the exclusions
A good scope of work states what is not included: high-level dusting, waste removal off site, or specialist finishes. Knowing this before work starts prevents disagreement later.

Frequently asked questions
What does a site survey involve?
A site survey is a short visit to your premises before we quote. We look at the floor area, surfaces, access, waste routes, working hours and any restrictions set by the building. It usually takes 20 to 40 minutes.
After the visit you receive a written scope of work, a proposed schedule and a price. There is no obligation to proceed.
Can you clean outside office hours?
Yes, where the building allows access. Early morning, evening and overnight shifts are common for offices, clinics and retail units.
Night work may need a permit from building management. We collect the requirement during the survey and arrange crew registration in advance.
